For the 2020 season, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will again support the premier class of motorsport: the calendar of the one-make cup, in which Porsche 911 GT3 Cup vehicles are fielded, is made up of eight rounds run as part of the Formula One support programme for the upcoming season.
The Supercup will also visit Zandvoort. The seaside resort town near Amsterdam is the venue for the Dutch Grand Prix and hosts a Formula 1 race for the first time in 2020.
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup has been part of the F1 support programme since its 1993 debut season. With the extension of the Formula 1 contract up to and including 2022, the decision was made to focus on the eight European rounds in the future. After the official tests in Barcelona (Spain), the 28th season takes off with the first F1 European round at the Circuit Zandvoort. The 2020 Supercup calendar also includes championship rounds on the legendary street circuit in Monte Carlo (Monaco) and at Hungary’s Hungaroring – two events that have been a permanent fixture on the series’ race calendar since the debut season. The Supercup teams will also line up to compete at Barcelona, Spielberg (Austria), Silverstone (Great Britain) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). Italy’s Autodromo Nazionale Monza hosts the final round of the season. Each of the eight events includes a 30-minute sprint race.
“The fact that the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup events take place as part of the Formula 1 programme is a key factor for the success of this racing series,” said Oliver Schwab, project manager of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. “Motor racing on circuits such as Silverstone and Monza has a huge and lively tradition. The atmosphere there is very special. We are really excited about our first race at Zandvoort. The circuit has its very own charm due to its location on the North Sea of the Dutch coast.”
Prominent guest drivers and an optimised media package in 2020 The tradition of fielding a VIP vehicle will continue in 2020. The No. 911 Cup car will be campaigned at selected rounds and driven by prominent sports people, former professional racing drivers and even Hollywood stars. Last season, Scotsman Chris Hoy, the six-time Olympic gold medallist in track cycling, joined the action at the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. In previous seasons, two-time Formula 1 World Champion Mika Häkkinen, rally aces Sébastien Loeb and Sébastien Ogier and Hollywood actor Patrick Dempsey made guest appearances in the VIP vehicle. In addition to prominent guest drivers, an optimised media package will be introduced for the 2020 season: Thanks to an improved rights situation in the immediate Formula 1 environment, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup can expand its PR activities, particularly in the social media sector.
At the end of the 2019 season, Michael Ammermüller (D/BWT Lechner Racing) took home the championship crown for the third time in a row. In the past, only Patrick Huisman and the reigning DTM champion René Rast (2010 to 2012) have achieved such a hat trick. Huisman from the Netherlands, in fact, clinched four consecutive titles from 1997 to 2000. The 2019 rookie title went to Ayhancan Güven (TR/martinet by ALMÉRAS), with Roar Lindland (N/pierre martinet by ALMÉRAS) claiming the ProAm title. BWT Lechner Racing won the team championship. The winners will be presented with their trophies at the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Championship Dinner on Friday, 29 November 2019, on the occasion of the Auto Bild Motorsport Race Night in Essen.

Macan GTS returns for 2020 model year with improved performance
Atlanta, Georgia.Porsche completes the Macan series with a distinctly sporty model. The new Macan GTS launches with a powerful engine, performance-oriented chassis, characteristic design and enhanced equipment. The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine delivers 375 hp (280 kW) – an increase of 15 hp compared with the predecessor model – and is combined with the newly adapted PDK dual-clutch transmission. The Macan GTS can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, or to the same speed in 4.5 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package, and on to a top track speed of 162 mph.
Among other things, the new Porsche compact SUV family has earned the abbreviation GTS, which stands for “Gran Turismo Sport”, due to its outstanding driving dynamics. Adaptive air suspension, which is standard equipment on this model, can lower the chassis by 10 millimeters. Combined with the standard 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels and the generously sized cast iron brakes (360 x 36 millimeters at the front, 330 x 22 millimeters at the rear), the new Macan GTS impresses with the agility and responsiveness of a true sports car. As an option, deceleration can be further improved by means of the Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB) with tungsten carbide coating (390 x 38 millimeters at the front, 356 x 28 millimeter at the rear) or the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) measuring 396 x 38 millimeters at the front and 370 x 30 millimeters at the rear.
Acoustically, the standard Sport Exhaust system specifically adapted to the GTS accentuates the driving pleasure in the new Macan GTS. A 2.9-liter V6 engine is at the heart of the experience. Its central turbo layout, with two turbochargers arranged in the inner V of the engine, allows particularly direct responsiveness. The maximum torque of 383 lb-ft (up 14 lb-ft) is available over a wide range from 1,750 to 5,000 rpm.
Individual design with black accents The new Macan GTS also emphasizes its sporty status visually. The standard Sport Design package with new front and rear trim and striking side skirts lends the car a characteristic appearance. The front fascia is characterized by black painted elements – a distinguishing feature of all Porsche GTS models. The LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and the three-dimensional rear lights with LED light bar are also darkened. The LED headlights can be optionally ordered in black with PDLS Plus. The lowered chassis, 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels in Satin Black, red brake calipers, and the trim strips in High Gloss Black also emphasize the high-performance appearance. The rear end also gains black accents including a diffuser and the tailpipes of the standard sport exhaust system.
Sport seats exclusive to the GTS with premium materials High-quality materials such as Alcantara® on the seat center panels, the center console armrests and door panels as well as brushed aluminum make it possible to see and feel the sporty and elegant characteristics of the Macan GTS. The multifunction sport steering wheel with the steering wheel rim in smooth leather is standard, as are the sport seats, exclusive to the GTS. The sport seats feature eight-way adjustment and pronounced side bolsters for stable support during dynamic cornering. The optional GTS interior package in leather with Carmine Red or Chalk stitching plus additional Alcantara® features, the BOSE® Surround Sound system, and the new smartphone tray with inductive charging function are among the many personalization options. Park Assist including Surround View, a heated windshield, and ionizer are available as optional equipment to improve comfort.
The new 2020 model year Macan GTS is expected to arrive at US dealerships in summer 2020. Pricing starts at $71,300 excluding $1,350 for delivery, processing and handling.
Autotopia LA recently shared this incredible machine built by TJ Russell. Street legal with 365 horsepower from the fully built flat-six, over a foot of suspension travel, and available by custom order!
Following the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo, the Taycan 4S is the new starting point of the electric line-up. A single-deck Performance Battery with a gross capacity of 79.2 kWh is fitted as standard, while the two-deck Performance Battery Plus (gross capacity 93.4 kWh), familiar from the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo, is available as an option.
Power output and range therefore vary correspondingly. With Performance Battery, the Taycan 4S generates up to 390 kW (530 PS) overboost power; equipped with Performance Battery Plus, it delivers up to 420 kW (571 PS). Both variants of the Taycan 4S accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. Top speed is also 250 km/h in both cases and range is up to 407 kilometres with Performance Battery and up to 463 kilometres with Performance Battery Plus (in accordance with WLTP in each case). Maximum charging power (peak) is 225 kW (Performance Battery) and 270 kW (Performance Battery Plus).
Breathtaking acceleration, sports cars traction and outstanding continuously available power – the Taycan’s strengths also apply to the 4S. The permanently excited synchronous motor on the rear axle has an active length of 130 millimetres, which makes it exactly 80 mm shorter than that in the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo. With motors on the front and rear axles to facilitate all-wheel drive, as well as a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, the drive architecture of the 4S comprises the same main technical highlights as its siblings. This also applies to the car’s intelligent charging management and impressive aerodynamics: with a Cd value from 0.22, the aerodynamics make a significant contribution to low energy consumption and boost range .
In 1980 Porsche entered Le Mans with three examples of the new race car which were piloted by teams from Germany, USA and Great Britain. Titled the 924 GTP, each car raced under their national colors in the highly competitive ‘Prototype’ class. 924 GTP 002 remains the only Porsche factory owned race car ever to compete under a British flag. Having been used for further testing the car was officially retired in 1982.

The Porsche 928 debuted in 1977 and was set to usher in a new age for Porsche with the goal of replacing the aging air-cooled 911. This of course never happened. The 928 and 911 did co-exist until 1995, with the 911 winning the battle for the future.
What if it was the 928 that won? What might a future 928 look like. YouTuber “TheSketchMonkey” shares his concept, based on modern Porsche design principles…
This is the Type 64. Top Gear does a great job of reviewing this amazing and rare machine. (This was the one that caused all the auction duress at the 2019 Pebble Beach Concours – read that story here)
